Lutnick said that these products will be included in the semiconductor tariffs, "There will be special categories of tariffs to ensure that the production of these products is repatriated. We need semiconductors, chips, and panels - these things must be made in the United States. We can't rely on Southeast Asia to supply everything we need to operate." He said that President Trump means that these electronic products are exempted from reciprocal tariffs, but will be included in semiconductor tariffs, and semiconductor tariffs may be on the road in the next one or two months. On April 12, U.S. President Donald Trump said on Saturday that he would provide an update on his government's latest position on semiconductor tariffs on Monday. Trump told reporters on Air Force One: "I'll give you an answer on Monday." On the evening of April 11, Eastern Time, the U.S. Customs announced that according to the memorandum signed by President Trump that day, the "reciprocal tariffs" under Executive Order No. 14257 (the "reciprocal tariff" executive order issued on April 2, and subsequently revised on April 8 and 9) will not be imposed on the following tax numbers.
